In today’s digital age, computer networks have become an important part of our daily lives. We use the internet in offices, homes, and other digital environments. Today, we will discuss computer networking.

ToggleWhat is Network?
A computer network is a system where multiple computers are connected together to share data and resources. These computers are connected to each other through cables or wires, or they can be connected wirelessly.
Types of Networks
- PAN (Personal Area Network): This network is your personal network, which you can use yourself, and no one else can use it without your permission.
- LAN (Local Area Network): This network operates within a limited area, such as a home, office, or college computer lab.
- MAN (Mentropolitan Area Network): This network provides network coverage across a city.
- WAN (Wide Area Network): This network provides network coverage across a city.
Network Devices
- Router: This network device connects different networks (for example, it connects your home network to the internet).
- Switch: This network device connects the devices within a network.
- Modem: This network device converts digital signals into analog signals.
Network Topology
Network topology refers to how the various nodes or devices in a network are connected to each other.
Protocol
A protocol is a set of rules for computer networks that devices follow to communicate with each other over the network. The most popular protocol is TCP/IP. This protocol ensures that your data reaches the correct destination.
IP Address
Every network device has a unique address, called an IP address. It’s just like your home address. Currently, two versions are in use: IPv4 (e.g., 192.168.1.1) and IPv6.
Security
Security is extremely important when using a network. Network security is ensured through the use of firewalls, strong passwords, encryption, and VPNs. This keeps your devices and the information on them safe.
If you are just starting out with networking, these things might seem difficult to you, but it’s not difficult at all if you understand the basic concepts of networking. The internet we use every day is fundamentally based on networking knowledge.
